It's Not The Same When It's Someone Else's

Tonight, as a special treat, Elliot was able to choose a candy from our treat jar. It took him a few minutes before he finally settled on the box of Harry Potter Jelly Bellys. And despite my warnings that he may not be thrilled with the flavors, he was positive that THIS was the candy for him.

He checked the key on the back of the box, but with flavors like earthworm, pickles, and earwax, it was hard to know if you'd get a good one. His first taste was a soap Jelly Belly. And, according to him, it was pretty good - a little like soap, but mostly like sugar. Unfortunately, his second choice did not taste nearly as good and, with a disgusted look on his face, he spit it into the garbage.

Next he found a black pepper bean, but after his last bad Belly, was too afraid to try it. It was then (imagining an entire box of spit-out candy) that I suggested we split the candies into good and bad piles. Elliot liked this idea and we quickly got to work...
Cherry?
Good pile.
Vomit?
Bad pile.
Buttered popcorn?
Good pile.
Nose boogers?
And as I was pushing the Jelly Bellys toward the bad pile, Elliot proclaimed, "I like eating my boogers" and moved them over to the good pile. To prove that he meant what he said, Elliot popped one of the nose booger Jelly Bellys into his mouth.

As he began to chew it, he said, "Those must be Harry Potter's boogers," and pushed the remaining booger Bellys to the bad pile.
